Bamenda 1 Council launches Peace, Reconstruction Tourney

The Bamenda 1 Council, headed by Mayor Mbigha Njah Felix have launched a holiday sports competition dubbed Peace and Reconstruction Tournament.

The tournament comprising of football, handball, cross country race, traditional dance and community work was launched Sunday July 25, 2021 at the Presbyterian School field Ntaafi, Bamendakwe.

Speaking during the launching ceremony, Mayor Mbigha Njah Felix called on the youth to stand as one man to maintain the the peace that is reigning in the municipality.

"We are celebrating the peace we have in Bamenda 1. We have come to unite the population"

"The youth have a very big role to play. That is why we are launching this Peace and Reconstruction inter quarter tournament to celebrate with the youths for maintaining the peace we are enjoying in our municipality", Mayor Mbigha said.

He used the launching ceremony to beckon on the population to forgive those who had committed crimes against them and the state of Cameroon.

"They have now repented and are in our midst. Let us accept and leave with them", Mayor Mbigha pleaded.

In the gala match that sanctioned the launching, Ntenefor was defeated 3#1 by Nyasso Ntaghang.

Prior to the launching, the final of the Bamenda 1 veteran tournament was played with the Bamendakwe Central Veteran (BaceVET) defeating Unity Veteran (UNIVET) after post match penalties.

The Bamenda 1 Council Peace and Reconstruction Tournament is expected to end on August 29, 2021.
