International Mental Health Day: Bamenda Regional Hospital organises Free Consultations for Psychological, Psychiatric problems

As part of activities to commemorate the 2021 edition of the International Mental Health Day, the Bamenda Regional Hospital has announced free consultations for psychological and psychiatric problems.

First celebrated in 1992 as an initiative of the World Federation for Mental health, 10th October is a day set aside for global health education, awareness, and advocacy against social stigma. The day also draws attention to mental illnesses, their major causes and effects on people’s lives throughout the world.

Celebrated this year under the theme “Mental Health And Respect Of Human Rights”, the Director of the Bamenda Regional Hospital, Dr. Denis Nsame has issued a public notice to inform the population of the North west Region that there is free consultation at the regional hospital for those with psychological and psychiatric problems.

The consultation is meant for persons with persistent insomnia, persistent irritability, aggression, physical or verbal violence, hallucinations, and mental confusion just to name but a few. This activity is to last from Tuesday, October 5th to Friday, October 8th in room 3 of the Out Patient Department (OPD).
