Bamenda: PCC Moderator inaugurates Inclusive Health Complex

Christains of the the Presbyterian Church in the North West region were on Saturday April 23rd accompanied by those of other denominations to welcome the inauguration of the Presbyterian Health Complex situated at Ntamulung Hill in Bamenda.

The good gesture which has been applauded by elite and the population of the region had the presence of the Canadian High Commissioner to Cameroon Richard Bale, Governor's representative, the representative of the Fon of Mankon, Imams and the the Mayor of Bamenda 2 council.

According to the the Moderator of the PCC, the Rt Rev Fonki Samuel, the facility is for everyone.

"It is a facility that we want that everybody should feel comfortable when they come here and as I said they should be treated as Kings and queens. And so it is a facility, an inclusive facility that does not mind wether you are Catholic or Presbyterian or you are Full Gospel or a Muslim. It is for everybody. That is why it is inclusive", he said.

The moderator went further to state that the health complex came as a result of one of the missions of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, which is the mission of bringing in quality health care to God's people.

But before now we have had one of the renouned hospitals in Acha Tugi in the Northwest region that gave quality health care to God's people. But because of the road infrastructure and many other prevalent circumstances that hospital has lost touch of it's quality services to the public because many people find it difficult to go to Acha Tugi.

"We brought an annex here as a health center and now we are transforming into this complex and we hope this place will continue to give the kind of services the church had intended in the last to give to God's people in this town and beyond", he added.

According to the Synod Clerk of the PCC, the Rev Miki Hans Abia in an interview with the, he says the hospital will help alleviate the level of poverty in the region.

"The common adage goes that there is no wealth like health. I think if your health is down, then you are a poor man. But with a facility like this where people will come and recieve healing, I think it is a means of bringing richness physically and spiritually to the the people", he said.

Recieving the health infrastructure in his municipality the mayor of Bamenda 2 council, Mayor Chenwi Peter promised the Sum of 1million frs CFA to cover the bills of the first 100 patients. To him, "I think what we need now is collective effort, the synergy between the hospital and the administration. We are here and we already started to assist and we have to make sure that we assist the hospital in many aspects maybe donating the drugs...I am the mayor of everybody that is why I'm here"

The health facility will offer services such as a full-fleshed eye hospital with a fully equipped theater for surgeries, an expansion of general medicine, an increase in specializes services and bed capacity, improved workers, skills, and an annex central pharmacy for medicine.
