Councilors of the Bafut council have adopted the 2023 budget of the Bafut council. The budget according to Mayor Ngwakongoh Lawrence is community oriented and is destined for the welfare of the people of Bafut. They have also set the priority projects for the 2023 budgetary year.
The 2023 estimated budget which is balanced in income and expenditure stands at 1.180.000.00 witnessing an increase of 11.04%.
Speaking during the Bafut council 2023 budgetary session Wednesday 7th December 2022, Mayor Ngwakongoh Lawrence disclosed that the annual investment plan for 2023 emanated from the budget orientation meeting.

In 2023, the Bafut Council plans to execute projects like the construction of classrooms, construction of the City Tower and green space, pavement of roads, construction of the youth empowerment center, completion of the bride linking Nsem and Agyati, construction and rehabilitation of water supply projects, completion of farm to market bridges, assistance to IDPs, construction of Ramps in five Health Centers, support vocational training persons living with disabilities, rehabilitation of schools and the purchase and installation of five cassava graters in 05 communities in Bafut.
Of the 1.180.000.000FCFA budget that was adopted, 619.400.000FCFA has been allocated for recurrent expenditure, while 560.600.000FCFA has been allocated for investment and capital expenditure.
The rise according to Mayor Ngwakongoh Lawrence is thanks to the government's investment credit for 2023 which stands at 301.500.000FCFA.
In 2022, the Bafut council executed a variety of projects ranging from the rehabilitation of schools, construction of bridges, rural electrification, construction of meat stalls, construction of a health center, support to vulnerable persons, and provision of water amongst others.
The representative of the Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam, the D.O of Bafut, Fokou Andelys congratulated the mayor and the council staff for respecting the timeframe for the budgetary session to be held.
The 2023 Bafut council budget was prepared after the budgetary orientation of the council which was held about a week ago.
